Our History

CHOICES was founded in 1986 to address the rising teen pregnancy rates of Teller County. Over time, it became clear that a two-fold goal was critical: 1) to reduce teen pregnancy, 2) but to also stabilize young families.
While much has happened in our 30+ years as a presence in Teller County, below are some of the highlights.

2023-2026

Added a 24/7 Infinite Worth Nurse chat line to our client-facing website
Rebranded the Choices colors and logo
Enhanced our Earn While You Learn Parenting Education Program
Replaced fencing on the south property line at our Woodland Park center

2021-2022

Earn While You Learn Parenting Education Program going strong.
Rebranded to our current lighthouse logo.
Refurbished the interior of our Cripple Creek location.
Repainted the building in Woodland Park.
Paid off the Cripple Creek building.

2015

A new Ultrasound machine with up-to-date technology was acquired.

2014

The STI Testing program was implemented under the supervision our Medical Director, and Medical Testing Director.

2011

The current Cripple Creek building at 411 N. C Street was purchased.

2009

The organization name was officially changed to CHOICES. The current Woodland Park building at 228 S. Baldwin was purchased.

2006

Our Earn While You Learn parent mentoring program was launched to teach our clients parenting skills and techniques.

2005

An Ultrasound machine was acquired, a Nurse Manager was hired, and TPRC became a medical clinic.

2002

A satellite office was opened in the Aspen Mine Center in Cripple Creek. The name was changed to Teller Pregnancy Resource Center (TPRC) to accommodate both locations in the county.

1993

A Board of Directors was established and a non-profit 501c3 status was obtained.
The Woodland Park Pregnancy Center became its own separate entity.
