Greetings Friends of CHOICES,
Thank you to all of you who attended our Gala on April 16th. We were blessed with 130 guests enjoying a night of good food, fellowship, Raffle fun, and our program about CHOICES.
I began the program with an overview of CHOICES services and statistics for 2020.
Next, Eric Disman shared his story of becoming a teen dad and how he learned through his supportive parents and organizations like CHOICES, that he could raise his daughter as a single dad. He shared some of his experiences, stigmas that exist for single dads, and about his beautiful daughter Amanda, who has turned out to be a world-changer! So many of you met with me afterward to say how blessed you were to hear the man’s side of the story of for an unplanned pregnancy.
We also heard from John Cheyney, a long-time client mentor to our young dads and couples in our Earn While You Learn parenting education program. He spoke of how he started mentoring, what he has witnessed over the years in terms of these kids needing a solid male role model in their lives, about the positive impact the parenting sessions have on both the parents and he as their mentor. You also commented on how great it was to hear from John about an Earn While You Learn male mentors experience.
CHOICES needs more male mentors for our parenting program if you are feeling drawn. Call CHOICES at 719-687-1200 and set up a time to talk with Lissa to get more details.

For this event the donations are currently at $30,000.00 Donations are still coming in the mail and online for this event!! Thank you Lord! Thank you friends of CHOICES. We have received one time donations, signed up several new monthly donors and have existing monthly donors increasing their monthly donation amount!
